Iris recognition, LG Faye, waterproof added? LG G6
Along with the Galaxy S8, a flagship smartphone series that will be launched in the first half of next year, various rumors about LG Electronics' G6 are being reported. The G5, which was launched earlier, attracted public attention with a variety of friend products along with experimental modular structure, but it failed to hit the box office. As such, LG Electronics is losing to the G6, which will be released next year, when its deficits in its smartphone business division intensify, and it is struggling to apply new technologies that have not been seen in the LG smartphone. So what features of LG's G6 will be released in 2017?
Modular Abandonment? Enhance your design!
LG Electronics plans to transform the appearance of the G6 with better design.Previously, the G5 was equipped with interchangeable modules that could be equipped with a variety of modules such as a 360 degree camera, 360 cam and tone plus. The G5's modular design has attracted a lot of attention in terms of increasing hardware in a variety of ways, but it has not received much response from actual users in terms of module clearance and additional purchase costs. In the industry, LG Electronics is not likely to adopt such a modular design for the G6.
Modular design of LG G5
LG Electronics is planning to install a removable battery such as the V20 in the G6 to avoid problems related to stability and yield. On the other hand, some of the prospects are that it will be released as an all-in-one battery with a waterproof function for frontal competition with other companies' flagship smartphones. The G6 is expected to use 5.6-inch OLED displays, and the exterior will also adopt a much more sophisticated design for high-end smartphones.

Iris recognition and LG Faye
One of LG Electronics' new features for the flagship smartphone competition next year is iris recognition. LG Innotek, a subsidiary of LG Electronics, unveiled the iris scan all-in-one module 'Iris Scan In One', an iris recognition camera module, at Korea Electronics Show held in October. It is not yet known whether this module will be applied directly to the G6, but LG Electronics is said to be considering installing the technology on its new smartphone.

In addition, 'LG Pay', which LG Electronics is preparing for nearly a year and a half, is expected to be installed in the G6. In the meantime, LG Electronics has developed a white card method that uses multiple card information on a single card and then uses it in conjunction with a smartphone. However, since the white card method is introduced for the first time in the domestic market It has been difficult to implement the technology. In the end, LG Electronics revised its plan and introduced the Magnetic Security Transmission (MST) method applied to Samsung F & M. This MST system is a system where payment is made when a smartphone is brought to a card terminal. It can be paid anywhere with a smartphone, and it is convenient because it is compatible with a magnetic card dispenser. In this regard, the market sees that LG Electronics will spread the spread of LG Fee using the iris recognition technology to be introduced to the G6.

User-friendly wireless charging function
The G6 is also expected to be the first LG smartphone to adopt a wireless charging function that supports fast charging. LG Electronics has not been equipped with a wireless charging function in its smartphone. However, there is speculation that LG Electronics will include a wireless charging function to boost the G6's competitiveness ahead of next year's even more intense smartphone market competition.

Previously, LG Electronics has developed self-resonance technology that evolved from a magnetic induction method in which a smartphone and a wireless charger are brought into contact with each other. This self resonance has the advantage that multiple devices can be charged at the same time from a distance. With this method, one wireless charger can differentiate itself from existing products that can charge only one smartphone. In addition, the charging module is expected to charge up to 50% of the battery in 30 minutes with the same charging rate as the fast charger of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone.

LG Electronics introduced the V34, a waterproof model that added waterproof function to the V20, in Japan in mid-month, but did not release a waterproof smartphone in Korea. However, it is expected that the waterproof function will be added to the next generation smartphone G6. According to one source, LG Electronics is considering the use of waterproof adhesives on the LG G6 display frame, and Japanese DIC, Hitachi, US 3M and Germany Henkel are competing for this waterproof adhesive supply. These adhesive methods are the same as the waterproofing method implemented in the iPhone 7, and waterproof materials are added to the USB connector, earphone terminal, and camera cover glass for waterproofing smart phones.
In the case of the previous G5, the camera and audio part showed a considerable edge. In particular, LG has proved its dual cameras and high-performance audio functions through the existing G series and V series. The basic lens of the existing G5 rear camera was able to shoot 16 million pixels and wide angle lens. The G6 is expected to be equipped with a rear dual camera, and it is said that it will incorporate up to two cameras on the front. In addition, the G6 is expected to further enhance its existing camera capabilities, including a 24-megapixel camera with 3D capabilities.

In addition, the G5 is equipped with only one speaker at the bottom of the smartphone, and it is expected to incorporate more powerful built-in speakers like the iPhone 7's stereo speakers. It is also expected to attract attention once again with bundled earphones and audio systems after collaborating with famous audio equipment companies.
Focus on market demand rather than innovation
In addition, the G6 is said to be powered by Android 7.0's Nougat operating system, 5GB of RAM, and 4200mAh. LG Electronics said the G6 will also be equipped with the latest version of Android, as it upgraded the 7.0 version of the latest Android operating system, the G5. In addition, in the case of the battery, the battery capacity (2800mAh) is small enough to use various functions of the former G5, and the G6 is expected to be loaded with a large capacity battery next year. As such, LG Electronics' willingness to fulfill the needs of consumers rather than bold innovations can be seen in the G6.

So, when will the G6 be released? The LG G5, released in February, was released on March 31, about two months later, and the LG G4 was also released on April 29 last year. The G6 will also be unveiled at MWC 2017 in Barcelona in February next year and will be released around April. However, this may be somewhat delayed depending on the release date of the next generation of Galaxy or iPhone. The G6 is expected to be priced at roughly the same level as the G5.
