Where is Samsung Fay? Samsung Gear S3
Smart watches are not spreading more quickly than expected. The variety of products has also been diversified and the price range has been cheaper than in the early days, but it is still lacking in supporting products because there are no products that strongly attract consumers' desire to purchase. Nevertheless, functionality and performance continue to evolve, and the design is getting closer to the look of a more sophisticated watch compared to the first generation of smart watch models. Samsung's SmartWatch Gear S3, which was launched in the second half of this year, is also equipped with more sophisticated features.
More timely design
The gear S series is becoming more like an analog clock every time a new model is released. Gear S, the first model in the series, has a big rectangular display that has a curved display that matches the shape of the wrist and boasts of its technological prowess, but it was also a somewhat burdensome design that was not life-friendly. From the next release of the Gear S2, the circular display began to look more like a watch. But using a dedicated band and a flat design, it was not enough to give anyone the impression of an analog clock. The Gear S2 Classic, however, turned into a much closer analog watch with a toothed bezel ring and a 20mm standard watch band. The later-released Gears S2 Classic Premium had the same design, but with a premium color, it gave a more luxurious feel to the watch. And the most recent release of the gear S3 is a one-step closer to analog watches due to design changes such as bezeling.

Two models that look alike
The previous Gear S2 is available in three models. Bluetooth and 3G communication support matters, even more complicated to distinguish, but only look at the standard model, classic model, and can be divided into classic premium models. However, except for the change of color, the design itself comes in two colors: standard and classic. Gear S3 is also available in two models. However, unlike the gear S2, which has a distinctly different appearance from the standard and classic, the gear S3 is similar to the classic S2 model with a bezel ring in the form of a sawtooth. But when I tear it off, the color and design are slightly different.
First, the gear S3 frontier is black, while the classic is metal. The bezel's serrations are also smaller and more compact, and the body of the watch is a round shape that closely matches the circular display and bezel ring, but the frontier has a slightly protruding shape on both sides. The buttons on the right side of the body are also different. Classic uses a short cylindrical shape like the crown of an analog watch, and the frontier is flat on both sides of the side protruding part.

Another difference is the difference between the basic bands. The classic strap comes in a black leather strap, but the frontier comes standard with a black silicone strap. Of course, both the Classic and Frontier are compatible with each other using the standard 22mm standard and can be replaced with a commercially available 22mm strap.

The gear S3 has not only changed design but also hardware specifications compared to the previous model. First, when using SmartWatch, the most popular display increased from 1.2 to 1.3 inches. However, the display resolution is the same as 360x360. The pixel density alone is reduced from 302 ppi to 278 ppi. However, if the pixel density is slightly lowered at 250 ppi, a larger display size may be a better choice. RAM capacity has also increased by 50% from 512MB to 768MB, and the battery has also increased by more than 50% from 250mAh to 380mAh, resulting in a larger display size, but the average usage time is longer by two to three days to three to four days.
Finally, built-in speakers, beveled UX
Gear S2 had no built-in speakers. Therefore, notifications could only be delivered by screen and vibration, and you had to connect the Bluetooth earphone to play music embedded in the gear separately from the smartphone. But gear S3 finally has a built-in speaker. The advantage of having a built-in speaker is that you can listen to the music directly without a Bluetooth earphone, but you can actually receive an alarm or an announcement, and you can listen to an answer when you issue an S voice command.

So how do you adjust the volume of the built-in speakers? You can easily adjust the volume through the distinctive bezel ring of the gear S3. The gear S3 also enhances the UX using the bezel. When the phone is hooked up, the bezel is turned clockwise to receive the call and the counterclockwise to turn the receiver off. It is easier to receive or reject a call even in situations such as not being able to do.

▲ Bezel ring can be used to accept or reject calls with gloves
In Gear S3, it is possible not only to check a text message or messenger, but also send and reply. When you send a message, you can save frequently used sentences, send emoticons, or use a virtual keyboard to enter text. Another input method is handwriting, which is to write one letter of your finger on the screen of gear S3. However, the recognition rate of this handwriting input is remarkably excellent. It seems to be somewhat erroneously recognized in the middle of writing, but if you actually check it, it shows very high recognition rate.

There are 15 kinds of watch faces that are basically provided, and various designs such as a really simple text form, a form useful for confirming the momentum, and a chic chronograph are provided. You can also download a free or paid watch face from the dedicated app store.

Wait a minute, what about Samsung Fay?
It is true that the gear S3 has improved hardware specifications compared to the existing model and the design has improved to a higher level of perfection, but that alone can not be satisfied. It is not easy to feel that the performance is slightly higher and the display is slightly larger, and the built-in GPS can store information such as the movement path during exercise, but it can not feel a big difference without using the position related function. The dustproof waterproofing has already been applied to the existing level, and the use time has obviously been increased due to the increase in the battery capacity, but it is hard to feel a big difference in the feeling of using the extension of the usage time of one day as long as it does not go more than one week by one charge. So what is the point at which Gears S3 is expected? This is true support for Samsung Fay.
Gear S2 is only supported by NFC, so we could only use NFC payment function, but Gear S3 is the first smart watch to support MTS (Magnetic Secure Transmission) method, which is supported only by some Galaxy smartphones. Has received considerable attention since its launch. However, Samsung Fay could not be found on the actual gear S3 released. It is known that Samsung S3 of MST system of gear S3 is not providing service because the practical part and technical part such as interlocking with the financial sector due to the specificity of the Tezen operating system and checking compatibility are not completed yet. In other words, it means that MST parts are already built in hardware. Samsung's plans to provide services within this year seem to be somewhat tight, but support will have a significant impact on the sales volume of Gears S3 and it will also help Samsung F & However, it is quite disappointing that the exact schedule has not been released, and in fact, the most important new feature of gear S3 is not yet supported.
MST and iOS support, will the promise be kept?
Gear S3, which I have been using for about a month, has been very stimulating the purchase with a sophisticated design and a leisurely battery. Especially with the enhanced bezel ring, UX offers greater ease of use than Apple's digital crown. The addition of a built-in speaker also made a big difference in actual use, and it relieved much of the inconvenience that we had in previous models. However, I was disappointed as I was expecting the two parts that had really great expectations to be solved.
